Our educators
At Sherif family day care our educators will create a nurturing and healthy environment in their home. They will also build strong relationships with children and their parents through regular face to face meetings ensuring that the best possible care is provided to each child. Educators make sure that their home, any outdoor play areas and all equipment is in a clean, safe and hygienic manner as per regulations. Educators actively work to ensure that each child under their care feels safe in their home. Educators are required to ensure their family members and residents in their home all undergo working with children check they also need actively work to ensure that all children feel comfortable, happy, and safe in the home.
Educators from Sherif family day care will treat every child in their care with respect. Our Educators are required to approach positively and teach behavioural guidance. They will also encourage and stimulate children’s learning and development by orchestrating child appropriate, safe and interesting activities for children inside and outside the home. Educators are required to read, listen and talk to children inside and outside the home. Educators are expected to meet and fulfil children’s daily needs including meals, toileting, rest times etc.

Requirements for Educators
We are all aware that children can be vulnerable and require the care of trustworthy and capable educators who will keep them emotionally and physically safe and also ensuring their meeting their unique developmental and educational needs.
It is important that we select only suitable individuals to provide care to children. Prospective applicants are required to provide a Working with Children Check for themselves and all adults residing in their home.
The following are requirements of becoming an Educator:
- Obtain a Working with Children Check.
- Complete and return the Educator Application form to Sherif family day care.
- Pass the Home Safety and Hygiene Assessment which will be conducted through visits from coordinating unit staff.
- Senior or Workplace Level 2 First Aid Certificate.
- Obtain an Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate.
- Obtain a Medical Report.
- Citizenship or Permanent residency or the right to work in Australia
- Obtain Public Liability Insurance.
- Submit all relevant forms e.g., bank details, payment of registration fee, care agreement contract, etc.

- The coordinating unit takes expressions of interests into a waiting list from which Educators are matched to families.
- The Coordinating unit will take care of the registrations of families and provide you (the educator) with all the relevant details.
